Playing to fears
It may take two generations to undo the damage President Bush has done
with his politics of fear and destruction ("Bush 'appeasement' remark in
Israel draws Obama's fire," May 16). When Bush ties appeasers of the Nazis
to those who would negotiate with terrorists and radicals, I think about the
many innocent Iraqis who lost all they had, including their families, to Bush's
radical decision to bomb their country. In Israel, Bush was appeasing the
Jewish people while reinforcing his warmongering base.

Letter
A Double Standard Over Candidates’ Flag Pins?
To the Editor:
Re “The Politics of the Lapel, When It Comes to Obama” (news article, May 15):
If love and devotion to one’s country means wearing a flag pin, I question the criticism toward
Senator Barack Obama, who does not always wear one, when no big deal is being made toward
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Senator John McCain, who also do not always bother to
wear one.
But considering that to this day many people still think that Mr. Obama is Muslim, the hypocrisy
when it comes to Mr. Obama is pure racism in disguise. Where is the patriotism of the
mainstream American media in educating voters?

Bombs Over Baghdad

I Remember
I would not be surprised if George Sr. and in particular his wife Barbara do not remember where
they were the day their son gave the order to bomb Iraq. On Good Morning America [March 18,
2003], Barbara said "Why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what
day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Oh, I mean, it's not
relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
Perhaps where they were the day bombs fell on Baghdad may not be as relevant as a mother's
mind in denial, the one who raised our actual president.
