Bush wants a medal

By giving the Medal of Freedom to Paul Bremer and George Tenet, President Bush has glorified his decision
to
attack Iraq and put on a pedestal two men who failed the American people just as he did. He might as well
give a
Medal of Freedom to himself. Maybe this is what he meant to do.

They cut the last line, which was, my goal: continue to support justice and peace.

I have many hopes for this coming year. I'd like to see our troops back from Iraq. I never supported the
war, and I
cannot bear hearing of more of our children killed. I do not have a crystal ball regarding the future of Iraq, but
whenever the country will have elections, I hope it won't happen under pressure and that they represent all the

people.

I hope that we do not forget the real reason we were given for attacking Iraq, and hope that those
responsible for
this illegitimate war will be brought to justice.

I hope that all Americans will work together in resolving the unjust treatment of the gay community, and we
can be
proud to give equality to all.

Rx for column on Dean

Re "2004: A Year of Jaw-Droppers":

Michael Smerconish should have asked me about Howard Dean.

I would have told him that I was in Iowa as a volunteer working for Howard Dean's campaign and that
thousands
of us were louder than the candidate. No screech in Iowa, just great enthusiasm in support of a great man
that the
media loves to (try to) destroy.

Just ask the guys who tampered with the audiotape. Want to hear mine?

And for Mr. Smerconish's information, Dr. Dean is not resuming his practice in Vermont, he has not practiced

medicine since he became governor.

Cheap shots are what the media loves to make up.

To the Editor:

President Bush, in his State of the Union address, said, Let us "build a better world."

To be sincere in leading, President Bush should start at home and stop his politics of fear about Social
Security and stop manipulating Americans into believing that gay marriages are not good for families, children
and society.

He spoke at length about his goals for reforms, but one should worry about a leader who supports amending
our Constitution while in the same breath speaks about freedom.
